Father Mina Riwes in
brief
Born on December 10th 1956, in the city of
Qena in Upper Egypt, he was given the of Diaa Riwes.
When his family moved to Cairo in 1954, they lived
in Shubra district. He served as deacon in the church of Martyr Abu Sifain
and St. Damiana, also in the Association of Angel Michael in Shubra.
He obtained his
B.Sc. in Agriculture from Cairo University in 1970 and joined the armed
forces to complete his military service from 1971 to
1980; he had the honor of participating in the October war 1993. he worked
as an Agricultural Engineer within the Southern Sector of Desert Land Reform
Program in Tahrir City, not forgetting his holy duty in spreading the Word
of God through the " village service " amongst the peasants there. Then he
worked as an inspector in the Police Unit within the Ministry of Supplies in
Maadi.
He served in St. Mark Church
in Maadi as deacon then archdeacon and was appointed as the first
responsible for the Sunday School Services in St. George church in Maadi
Gardens. He was also the first priest ordained by His Holiness Pope Shenouda
The Third to serve in Angel Raphael Church in new Maadi on November 2nd 1980
Willingly and lovingly he spared neither effort nor time to serve the poor
and all the people living in various areas in the church neighborhood.
In July 1989 he
was delegated by His Holiness Pope Shenouda The Third to
serve in Italy, then on December 25th 1995 in Rochester, New York.
He returned home on his annual leave for the last
time, where his Soul rested in peace with the Lord Jesus on Monday, July
21st 1997 - Abib 14th 1713.
" The elders who direct the affairs
of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work
is preaching and teaching " (1 Ti 4:15)
